A Heart at Sea is an intimate folk musical and puppetry collaboration.
A Heart at Sea uses beautiful live music to tell the tale of a young boy who after a tragedy, bottles up his heart, and throws it in the sea. Intricate puppets are swept through a transforming wooden world as our hero tries to recover his heart. A haunting tale suitable for those 7+ of whales, caves, ships and pirates (with phenomenal beards.)
Be enthralled by this epic musical folktale told on a miniature scale. Haunting live music tells the story of a Boy who bottles up his heart and throws it into the sea. Original song-writing is set to stunning visuals, which centre around a beautifully carved chest holding the secrets to the story. Intricate puppets are swept through this transforming wooden world as the Boy tumbles through an danger and discovery to recover his missing heart. Echoing soundscapes knit together a heart-warming tale of whales, tiny boats, sea captains and beards. Intimate gig-theatre that will resonate with all ages.
A Heart at Sea is a collaboration between folk singer/songwriter Avi Simmons and puppet maker and artist Peter Morton. Touring in 2018. Supported by the Arts Council of England.
