The Ashton Group’s Theatre Factory Presents The Apprenticed Actors Company In Ice Baby by Sarah Miller.
The Ashton Group is 20 years old this year and as part of our celebrations we are re-staging one of the first Apprenticed Actors shows that we produced, Ice Bay by Salford based writer, Sarah Miller.
Ice Baby is about a 17 year old mum, her baby her mater and what happens to them all one freezing winter night when they are visited by Goblins.
Ice Baby is about the struggle to be a grown up when you have no role models and no support.
Ice Baby bristles with spiky energy, glistens with a sprinkling of magic and is a return to the Company’s roots in tough, straight talking contemporary fiction.
Suitable for 14+ Contains adult themes.
Here is a little more information about company:
Theatre Factory is a programme of theatre activity by, for and with young people in the Furness Peninsula, run by The Ashton Group.
The Ashton Group provides the opportunity for young people to collaborate with practising professional theatre Directors, Writers, Designers and Technicians to make brand new theatre performances that spring from their own ideas.
The Ashton Group is producing some of the highest quality Youth Theatre work I have seen, both in their development process and quality of performances. I think your work should be highlighted nationally as an example of best practice. Long may it continue! Julie Batten, Director, People Express, South Derbyshire.
“The script was very well written, clever jokes and heartbreaking dialogue. Great performances from the entire case” Audience member, Losing Tom, Barrow Youth Theatre
“Completely believable characterisation and great economy of story telling; a few words and actions set the scene so well. It took me back to being 17 again so vividly” Audience member, Hollows, Apprenticed Actors Company
“Wonderful story, strong performances, impressive staging. Kind of show that makes you proud of the town” Audience member, Surfacing, Apprenticed Actors Company
